Spring 2005 saw the commission of a 6 x 30 minute series, ‘Seeing Scotland’ that Ella had written with Dad, landscape photographer Charlie Waite in mind as presenter. In May 2005 Ella moved to Scotland where she produced and directed the series in 6 months. The series has since been nominated at ‘The Grierson Documentary Awards’, ‘The Green Vision Awards’, ‘Prix Italia 2006’ and at ‘The ING Awards for ‘Best Regional Documentary Series’. The series was repeated in Winter 2006 on ITV and DVD’s are available in most retail outlets.

Ella currently lives in London - her time shared between freelancing and running ENVIRONMENT FILMS, the first and only non-profit production company making media solely for conservation and animal charities.

Either with her Dad or with work Ella’s been very fortunate to travel all over the world and usually documents her experiences along the way either by writing, taking stills or shooting super 8. (Talking of Super 8 Ella is co-owner of The Cine Wedding Company, founded in 2007)

As a result of working abroad alone Ella is confident shooting her own material - using a variety of DV and HDV cameras, in particular the DRS500, PD150 and Z1. Ella owns a Bolex H16mm and Nizo 8mm, is competent and enjoys editing on FCP.
