Ella Waite is an award-winning freelance PD, with 9 years experience in television and a passion for documentary.
Ella directed and shot her first documentary in 1998 during the War in Kosovo, having been asked to join and document a humanitarian aid convoy to Serbia. At this time she was studying a degree in Film and Television at The Bournemouth Film School. She returned from Kosovo with an award-winning B&W short film ‘Nobody Asked’, which was later nominated at the 'London Film Festival', 'The Cork Film Festival' and won the 'Yugoslavian Story Tellers Film Award' in 1999.
Having completed her degree Ella moved to America to work alongside Producer Al Burton at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. After a productive and exhilarating year working as an a AP Ella returned to England accepting a contract at the BBC's Natural History Unit in Bristol, where for three years she worked on a diverse selection of productions.
But in 2002, in a bid to gain more experience in Drama, Ella (reluctantly) left the Natural History Unit and joined the BBC’s drama series 'Casualty', which is also produced in Bristol.
In 2003 Ella left there to become a freelance PD and to develop and seek commission for various format ideas of her own.
